CDMA Full Form

What is the full form of CDMA?

CDMA Full form is Code Division Multiple Access. It is both a method of channel access and an illustration of multiple access. Multiple access indicates that multiple transmitters can simultaneously broadcast data to a single communication channel.

Multiple users are provided or assigned unique CDMA codes, allowing them access to the whole frequency range or bandwidth. This approach does not limit the user’s frequency range. Consequently, CDMA allows several users to share a frequency band without needless interference. In conjunction with ADC (analog to digital conversion), CDMA enables spectrum technology.

A basic overview of CDMA

  • Long ago, CDMA software was widely utilized. Dmitry Ageev addressed this topic for the first time in 1935.
  • During World War II, CDMA was also utilized to stop attempts to jam transmissions.
  • It was then utilized in the military for range, anti-jamming, and other purposes.
  • Leonid Kupriyanovich utilized it in 1957 when designing an automated wearable mobile phone.
  • Ultimately, the TIA approved the CDMA technology requirements in 1993. (Telecommunications Industry Association).
  • In September 1998, sixteen million consumers were registered for CDMA systems. CDMA is now supported by 22 countries.

Characteristics of CDMA

  • It enables more users to communicate at a given moment and delivers increased voice and data connection capacity.
  • Many CDMA channels utilize the entire spectrum.
  • CDMA systems utilize power control to reduce interference and noise, hence increasing network efficiency.
  • To safeguard its signals, CDMA encodes user transmissions using unique codes.
  • In CDMA systems, the same frequency can be used by all cells.
  • A CDMA system has no fixed limit on the number of participants, although performance diminishes as the number of participants increases.

Applications of CDMA

  • CDMA is utilized by GPS (Global Positioning System)
  • Multiple cell phone companies employ this technology.
  • W-CDMA is utilized by the UTMS 3 G cell phone standard.
  • The OmniTRACS transportation satellite system utilized CDMA
