A Quick NIIT history
- Rajendra S. Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani, both alumni of IIT Delhi, established NIIT in 1981 with a million rupees. By 1987, NIIT had devised a franchising model for IT instruction and established nine centres.
- 1986 marked the beginning of NIIT’s foray into the software industry, beginning with Software Product Delivery under the brand name Insoft.
- The company was divided in 2004 into the NIIT Limited and NIIT Technologies divisions.
- In May of 2019, Baring Private Equity Asia purchased a managerial share in NIIT Technologies Ltd.
