What is the full form of MMR?

The MMR full form is Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. It refers to the immunization or shot against measles, mumps, and rubella. This vaccination is provided via injection and contains a combination of three attenuated live viruses. It was invented by Maurice Hilleman in the 1960s. This immunization prevents the three diseases listed below.

  • Dry cough
  • Rash
  • Runny nose
  • Red or watery eyes
  • Later, it may lead to pneumonia, brain damage, and even death.


It is a virus-caused viral infection. It is contagious by saliva, nasal secretions, or close physical contact; the infected individual may transmit the virus to another person.


It is also known as three-day measles and German measles. It is an infectious disease caused by the rubella virus.
