What is the full form of MMR?

The MMR full form is Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. It refers to the immunization or shot against measles, mumps, and rubella. This vaccination is provided via injection and contains a combination of three attenuated live viruses. It was invented by Maurice Hilleman in the 1960s. Measles

Additionally known as rubeola. This is a viral respiratory disease. This is an infectious disease.

Initial symptoms are

  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Rash
  • Runny nose
  • Red or watery eyes
  • Later, it may lead to pneumonia, brain damage, and even death.

Mumps

It is a virus-caused viral infection. It is contagious by saliva, nasal secretions, or close physical contact; the infected individual may transmit the virus to another person.

Rubella

It is also known as three-day measles and German measles. It is an infectious disease caused by the rubella virus.

  • Fever
  • Sore throat

Common Side Effects of the MMR Vaccine

At one year of age, children receive their first dose of the MMR vaccine. Children who are unable to establish immunity following the first dosage of the vaccine receive a second dose of the vaccine at the age of four or five. Several frequent side effects are listed below.
