What is the full form of ATS?
The ATS full form is the Anti-Terrorism Squad. ATS is a police service that operates in a number of Indian states, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kerala, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Bihar. A brief history of ATS
- Aftab Ahmed Khan, commonly known as A.A. Khan, was the Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Police in 1989 when he formed the ATS in Maharashtra.
- He was influenced by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) units’ techniques for combating contemporary terrorism.
- Since its inception in 1990, ATS officers have won 23 valor awards. On November 26, 2008, the Mumbai ATS participated in hostage rescue operations at various sites in Mumbai, Maharashtra, including the Taj and Trident hotels in Oberoi, both five-star establishments.
- It also began to appoint minors over the age of 12 as ATC personnel, with undercover training, after the occurrences, particularly in Mumbai.
The primary duties of ATS
