An SMPS modifies output voltage and current between various electrical configurations by switching the fundamentals of typically lossless storage components, such as capacitors and inductors. Ideal switching concepts are determined by transistors controlled outside of their active state, which has no resistance in their “on” state and carries no current in their “off” state.
