What is the Full form of SAARC?
SAARC Full Form is South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation. In 1985, eight countries in South Asia came together to form this geopolitical and economic bloc. Kathmandu, Nepal serves as the headquarters of SAARC.

About SAARC
- In the late 1970s, the seven South Asian nations—Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, the Maldives, and Afghanistan—agreed to form a trade bloc to provide a forum for the citizens of South Asia to operate in an atmosphere of friendship, confidence, and mutual understanding.
- Zia Ur Rahman initially suspended this initiative to form a trade bloc on May 2, 1980.
- The first summit was held on December 8, 1985 in Dhaka.
- Afghanistan became the eighth member of SAARC in 2007.
- 2007 was the most productive year in the history of SAARC, with India serving as the organization’s chair.
