The Act is applicable throughout India. The Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act was already in effect in that state. Nonetheless, following the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh became subject to the Central Act. It encompasses all constitutional authorities, including the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, as well as any organization or body founded or established by an act of a state legislature or a Parliament.
