Poverty In India Essay

Long Essay on Poverty In India in English (900 Words)

Poverty is when a person or group doesn’t have enough money or basic needs to live a good life. In this case, there aren’t enough of the basic things needed to live. Because they don’t make much money, they can’t even meet their most basic needs. India’s extreme poverty is caused by a lot of different things. Still, in short, the only ones are the rise in population, the rise in prices, the debt trap, the drop in agricultural production, and the lack of proper government development.

These things have made the wealth gap bigger and made more people live in poverty. The rich keep getting richer, while the poor keep getting poorer. This has made the problem with the Indian economy even worse. Poverty affects the economy of the whole country, as well as the economy of the person, their family, or their neighbourhood. Overall, the Indian economy is based on output, and when people are poor, they are less productive.

What is Poverty?

For a person, being very poor is what it means to be poor. When a person gets to this point, they start to lack the things they need to live, like a place to sleep, food, medicine, and clothes. Poverty could be caused by a number of things.

Poverty in India is having a low income and not being able to get the basic goods and services a person needs to live with dignity. Health problems and lack of education are also included. It also means not having enough access to clean water and bathrooms, not being safe enough, not having enough skills, and not having the chance to live a better life.

Poverty is one of India’s most important social problems right now. There are bad effects on a large number of Indian people. The rise in poverty in India is mainly due to population increase, emigration to cities in pursuit of employment, and widespread unemployment. Some ways that poverty can be lessened are by making more people literate and by giving the poor better places to live.

India’s Situation with Poverty

India is one of the largest democratic countries in the world, and its economy is growing faster than most others. It is one of the most important developing countries in the world. But people still think of it as a developing country.

Poverty is one of the biggest problems in every country, but especially in India. India has a large number of people who live in poverty. Because of this, the country has become poor. Even though we got our freedom 75 years ago, we still have problems, and our country is poor. India has a very high poverty rate, which slows down its progress.

A lot of private and public organisations, as well as the federal and state governments, have worked together to solve this problem. Their main goal is to completely get rid of poverty in India. Together, they have been able to put in place some effective programmes that have helped to partially solve this serious problem and keep their people happy.

Causes of Poverty

India’s poverty rate is going up because more and more people are moving to cities. People from the countryside are moving to cities to find better jobs. Most of these people get jobs that don’t pay enough or do things that only pay for their food. Most importantly, around crores of people living in cities live below the poverty line, and many more are close to it.

Also, a lot of people live in slums or low-lying areas. Most of these people don’t know how to read or write, and no matter what they do, their situation doesn’t improve.

Also, there are a lot of things that can be said to be the main reasons why India is so poor. Some of these causes are corruption, a growing population, bad farming, a big gap between rich and poor, old customs, not being able to read or write, unemployment, and a few others. A lot of people work in agriculture, but it pays very little compared to work done by employees.

Also, when there are more people, they need more food, homes, and money. Without these things, poverty grows very quickly. Also, being extra poor or extra rich makes the gap between rich and poor even bigger.

Effects of Poverty

It changes the way people live in many ways. Also, it has many different effects, such as illiteracy, poor nutrition and diet, bad housing, child labour, unemployment, bad hygiene and way of life, feminising poverty, etc.

Also, these poor people can’t afford a healthy and balanced diet, nice clothes, a good education, a stable and clean home, etc., because all of these things cost money, and they don’t even have enough money for two meals a day. How can they pay for these things?

The Solutions for Ending Poverty

We need to act quickly and rightly if we want to solve the problem of poverty. Some ways to solve these problems are to give farmers the right tools and facilities. So that they can make farming profitable and not have to move to cities to find work.

Also, people who can’t read or write should be taught how to do so so they can live better lives. Family planning should be used to stop the growing number of people. Also, steps should be taken to stop corruption so that the gap between rich and poor can be closed.

Conclusion:

Poverty is not just a problem for one person; it is a problem for the whole country. Also, it needs to be fixed as soon as possible through the use of effective measures. Also, getting rid of poverty is now needed for the people, society, country, and economy to grow in a way that benefits everyone.
