A brief history of KVB

  • Mr. M. A. Venkatarama Chettiar and Mr. Athi Krishna Chettiar formed the Karur Village Bank (KVB) on July 25, 1917, in order to maximize the existing underdeveloped traders and farmers sector in and around Karur, Tamil Nadu.
  • The bank began with a beginning capital of approximately 1 lakh, which developed alongside other banks and the services offered.
  • The Board of Directors, comprised of professionals from diverse professions, oversees and directs the bank.
  • In order to establish a pan-Indian presence, the bank expanded from Karur and established over 668 subsidiaries in various states and union territories.
  • Shri K.K. Balu was appointed as the Bank’s Additional Director on January 27, 2012.
