A concise history of GAIL
- The Indian government founded GAIL India in 1984 as a PSU (Public Sector Enterprise) under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry.
- On February 1, 2013, the Indian government designated GAIL as a Maharatna. According to the analysis, it ranked 131 out of 150 respectable and trusted businesses in India.
- GAIL was included in the NSE, BSE, and DSE directories in 1996.
- 1999 saw the approval of LPG production facilities at Lakwa and Usar.
- GAIL received approval in 2001 to construct the world’s longest and first interstate LPG transmission pipeline from Jamnagar in Gujarat to Loni in Uttar Pradesh, India.
- In 2002, 12 percent of GSEGs in Gujarat were successfully sold.
- Bhagyanagar Gas Limited, a joint venture between GAIL and HPCL, was created in August 2003.
- GAIL received the SCOPE Meritorious Award for enterprise authority and regulation in 2007-2008.
- In 2010, it established a Representative Office in Egypt. Throughout the same year, it dominated the Platts Global Ranking for the classification of gas utilities in Asia.
- GAIL received the Managing India Award for Outstanding PSU of the Year in 2011. It is the very first PSU to receive this grant.
- It got the MoU Excellence Award in 2012 for being the best-functioning CPSE in the petroleum industry in 2009-2010. In the same year, the then-prime minister announced the 2,200-kilometer-wide pipeline from Dahej to Bathinda.
