What is the Full form of CVC?
The CVC full form is Central Vigilance Commission. CVC is an Indian government agency formed in 1964 to combat government corruption. Parliament passed a statute in 2003 that gives the CVC legislative status. It has the reputation of being an autonomous institution, unaffected by any executive authority. It is responsible for supervising all vigilance efforts across the Central Government of India, advising various authorities in central government agencies on the planning, execution, evaluation, and enhancement of their vigilance role.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Prevention of Corruption, led by the Shri K. Santhanam Committee, the Indian Government Resolution of 11 February 1964 established the Central Vigilance Commission to guide and direct Central Government organizations in the area of vigilance. Nittoor Srinivasa Rau is the first Chief Vigilance Commissioner of India.

Responsibilities of a CVC
- To evaluate the DSPE (Delhi Special Police Establishment) investigations pertaining to PC Act violations.
- An investigation into any payment in which a public employee of an organization is corruptly involved.
- To investigate complaints acquired according to the informant’s revelation of public concern and security, and to provide recommendations for corrective action.
