What is the Full form of CPCB?

The CPCB full form is Central Pollution Control Board. The agency was founded in September 1974 by the Water Act of 1974. It was also given the Air Force’s responsibilities and competencies (Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1981). The chairman of the CPCB is appointed by the federal government.

The CPCB provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Environment & Forests. Under the Water Act of 1974 and the Air Act of 1981, this organization’s primary mission is to promote the cleanliness of waterways and wells throughout the United States by preventing, regulating, and reducing water pollution and by enhancing air quality in order to prevent, regulate, and reduce air pollution.

Components that the CPCB monitors

In addition, it operates the National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP) to analyze the current air quality level and track and control industrial and other associated sources of emissions in order to maintain air quality.   • Guide persons who are engaged in water and air pollution prevention and control efforts.
  • Organize public education programs regarding the prevention, reduction, or management of water and air pollution.
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate statistical and technical data on air and water emissions and the management of water and air quality.
  • Commence the preparation of manuals, protocols, and instructions for the treatment and disposal of wastewater and industrial effluents.
  • As established by the Indian government, defines air quality norms and fulfills useful functions.
