When Kolkata Knight Riders required 28 runs off just five balls, Rinku Singh (48* off 21) performed the unfathomable by smashing five sixes in a row. The result was an incredible victory. In a thrilling game, Impact Player Venkatesh Iyer scorched to an innings of 83 off 40 balls, well supported by Nitish Rana (45 off 29), while Rashid Khan claimed the first hat-trick of the IPL 2023. But, Rinku Singh’s exploits will be remembered for years to come.

As the Titans were defending 204, Mohd. Shami made an early impact by catching the threatening-appearing Rahmanullah Gurbaz at short fine leg off a short ball. As he collided with the custodian who was attempting to make the catch, Yash Dayal made an incredible catch. Rahmanullah raised the stakes with a six and a four to reach 15 off 12 balls after Shami gave up just two runs in the opening over. At No. 3, KKR brought in Impact Player Venkatesh Iyer. He took Suyash Sharma’s post.

In the subsequent over, Josh Little bowled N Jagadeesan, the other opener, back by having him caught at deep square leg off a short ball.

With the intention of attacking from the start, Venkatesh Iyer struck a six and a few fours to push KKR to 43/2 at the end of the Powerplay. In his first over, Iyer faced Yash Dayal, scoring four and six to remove 13 off the over. After two sixes off Alzarri Joseph, Captain Nitish Rana found his rhythm. After they reached 86/1 at the midway point, Iyer and Rana made sure they kept the scoreboard moving and at least one boundary was scored in every over.

Rashid Khan was attacked by the pair, who scored 23 runs off of him in two overs. Iyer reached fifty off 26 balls with a four and a six from Yash Dayal, while Rana also contributed with a six to bring the over’s total to 17. In the 8 to 12 over period, KKR scored 60.

In his next over, Rana resumed his assault on Rashid, smashing him for two fours as the pair quickly reached their 100-run stand off just 54 balls. Rana was however caught at midoff for 45 after Joseph attacked against the flow of play (29). Iyer, though, maintained the pace as the equation changed to 56 needed off 30 balls. He went for Josh Little and hammered him for two fours and a six while scoring 17 from the over.

Then, Joseph made another significant win when he got Iyer for 83 caught at long on (40).

Rashid Khan turned the tables with an outstanding hat-trick when 50 needed off of 24. He gave the world’s attention first by catching Andre Russell off guard. Russell attempted to pull, but he slipped and the ball lobbed to the custodian. Although Rashid checked it and replays proved there was unquestionably a bat involved, the umpire did not call it out. The following ball saw him dismiss Sunil Narine for a catch at deep midwicket before catching Shardul Thakur LBW with a googly. As the hitter watched it, all three reds were shown on the replay. Rashid finished the over with a score of 4-0-37-3 while conceding just two runs and taking three wickets.

With 48 required from the final three overs, Shami bowled a fantastic over and only conceded five runs. With a six and a four off the final two balls of the penultimate over from Little to reduce the required run total to 29 off the final over, Rinku Singh spearheaded KKR’s resistance. In the final over from Yash Dayal, Umesh Yadav got a single off the first ball, and with 28 needed off the final five balls, Rinku Singh performed the unfathomable by hitting five sixes in a row, setting off loud celebrations. With one four and six sixes off of 48 from 21 balls, Rinku was still unblemished.

Rashid Khan, the Gujarat Titans’ acting captain, had previously chosen to bat after winning the toss in place of the ill Hardik Pandya. They replaced Josh Little and Hardik Pandya with Vijay Shankar and Abhinav Manohar. They listed Josh Little, Mohit Sharma, Jayant Yadav, KS Bharat, Matthew Wade, and Mohit Sharma as their stand-ins.

Mandeep Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, and Tim Southee were replaced by N Jagadeesan, Suyash Sharma, and Lockie Ferguson for KKR. They listed David Wiese, Mandeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Venkatesh Iyer, and Anukul Roy as their stand-ins.

Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Giants’ opening pair, gave the squad a steady start. Saha adopted the role of the aggressor as he hit two well timed lofts for fours, one off of Umesh Yadav and one off of Lockie Ferguson. After GT reached 31/0 after four overs, Shubman Gill played a well-placed flip wide of mid on to add his first boundary to his resume. Sunil Narine was called on by Nitish Rana to add spin to the attack in the fifth over. He struck quickly, returning Saha (17 off 17) off his first ball, who was expertly collected by N Jagadeesan at mid-wicket. Saha’s slog-sweep gained a top edge, and Jagadeesan made an excellent catch while sprinting backwards.

Varun Chakravarthy, who also gave up five WIDES, was the catalyst for the Titans’ first momentum as Shubman Gill creamed a few exquisite drives four fours through the off side to make it 16 from the over. At the conclusion of the Powerplay, GT was 54/1. In the following over, Gill hit another through the covers for a four off Narine.

Together, Gill and Sai Sudharsan combined caution with aggressiveness to score the fifty run stand off 32 balls. A four and a six from Sudharsan off Suyash Sharma and a six from Gill off Chakravarthy respectively helped GT reach 88/1 at the halfway point as the pair focused on hitting down the ground.

The partnership was flourishing when Rana reintroduced Narine, who once more ended it by having the set Gill 39(31) caught at far on in the 12th over. Narine made a strong comeback after being smacked for a six by Sudharsan on the opening ball of that over.

After Gill’s wicket fell, Abhinav Manohar arrived and immediately launched a counterattack, hitting three consecutive fours from Umesh Yadav. He later edged another ball, and custodian Rahmanullah Gurbaz failed to save a difficult opportunity.

Manohar (14 off 8) couldn’t hold out for very long, though, as Suyash dismissed him with a superb googly that slipped past his bat and pad. While this was going on, Sudharsan continued to add runs with singles, twos, and an occasional four to reach his third IPL fifty in just 34 balls. He and Vijay Shankar moved well between the wickets, picking up numerous singles and doubles to help the team reach 150 runs in the 17th over. However, Narine returned to end the partnership once more by catching Sudharsan at long off for 53. (38).

After pressing the gas, Shankar pursued Ferguson and struck him twice for fours and twice for sixes to score 25 off the over. In the last over, he struck a huge six off Shardul over deep mid-wicket to get his fourth IPL fifty in just 21 balls. He then hit two more sixes off the following two deliveries to make it 20 runs off the over and push GT to 204/4 after 20 overs.

With four fours and five sixes in his innings, Shankar was unbeaten at 63 off 24 balls. KKR’s preferred bowler, Sunil Narine, with a line of 4-0-33-3.

Sai Sudharsan was replaced by Josh Little as the Gujarat Titans’ Impact Player at the beginning of their bowling inning. They also had to replace Wriddhiman Saha, who was injured, with KS Bharat as a replacement custodian.

LSG vs SRH IPL 2023 Match 10 Scorecard

121 Was never going to be enough against an in-form LSG batting unit. SRH failed to take advantage of the powerplay and also kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The decision to bowl Krunal Pandya in the powerplay did wonders for KL Rahul.
