What is the full form of SDM?
SDM Full Form is Subdivisional Magistrate. Districts are subdivided to form subdivisions. In accordance with the government structure of a country, the subdivision is governed by the SDM, an administrative officer typically below the district level. A SDM utilizes the collector and Executive Magistrate’s authority. An SDM may be a senior officer of the State Civil Services with relevant experience in subordinate roles, or a junior member of the Indian Administrative Service.

In accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1973, SDM performs a variety of magisterial duties in addition to a large number of other minor tasks. It is commonly a PCS Ranking Officer. All tehsils and subdivisions will be governed by the Subdivisional Magistrate, who is authorized by the Collector magistrate and the tax inspector. The SDM has complete authority over his subdivision’s Tahsildars and serves as a liaison between his subdivision’s District Officer and Tahsildars.
