What is the full form of ISI?
ISI full form is the Indian Standards Institute. ISI was established to set criteria for the orderly expansion of industries and the maintenance of industrial production efficiency. It provides an ISI mark, which is a certification of compliance with standards for industrial items in India. It is the most widely used and recognized certification mark in the Indian subcontinent. In 1987, the name was changed to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

Origins Of ISI
- The ISI was created on January 6, 1947, and Dr. Lal C. Verman became the first ISI Director in June 1947.
- ISI is now called BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). It establishes the quality standard for consumer and industrial goods. It evaluates the quality and standard of each product and affixes a certification mark to them.
- By virtue of a law from 1986, BIS is empowered to issue certifications.
- Certain products sold in India are required to bear the ISI label. ISI accreditation is available to any manufacturing company that meets the BIS criteria for its product or service.

Another full form of ISI is Indian Statistical Institute. ISI is an institute of higher learning in Kolkata, West Bengal. There are four subsidiary centres in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Tezpur. On December 17, 1931, Professor P.C. Mahalanobis founded it in Kolkata. Act of Parliament from 1959 granted ISI Institution of National Importance status.
