What is the full form of AIIMS?
The AIIMS full form is the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India founded the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a network of public medical institutes spread throughout India. Its purpose is to establish a high standard of education in the UG and PG medical education systems.

History of AIIMS
- AIIMS was established under the direction of Jawaharlal Nehru and Amit Kaur in 1956. By Act of Parliament, AIIMS was founded to act as a hub for fostering excellence in all sectors of healthcare.
- AIIMS provides education and learning facilities of the highest caliber.
- AIIMS colleges are also designated as institutes of national importance, and every medical applicant’s aim is to enroll in one of the AIIMS colleges.
Functions of AIIMS
- It provides a variety of medical programs, including the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
- It leads the world in medical science. It releases almost 600 scientific publications per year.
- In Ballabgarh, Haryana, it also manages a hospital with approximately 60 beds and a nursing college leading to a B.Sc. with honors in nursing.
- AIIMS includes twenty-five clinical departments addressing all clinical diseases, in addition to four super specialty facilities.
