Chapter 1: Three Questions

Chapter 4: The ashes that made trees Bloom

The story presented here tells us about a hardworking honest couple and their pet dog. Unfortunately, their pet dog dies a tragic death. However, the spirit of the dog continues to give solace and support to his master in unexpected ways. In the middle of the chapter, an exercise is given in the form of comprehension check where students will have to answer some textual questions and mark the right item. Similarly, at the end of this chapter students need to answer some textual questions, place appropriate questions words, fill in the blanks, encircling correct articles, and some speaking and writing exercises. 

Successively, a poem has been given called Chivvy where students are encouraged to discuss some questions in groups.

Chapter 5: Quality 

The story is about a German shoemaker who settles down in London. At the end of this chapter students are given some exercises where they are required to answer some textual questions, fill in the blanks with the correct words and some speaking exercises.

Next, the students are introduced to a poem called Trees. In the exercise section at the end of this poem, students are asked to answer some textual questions and asked to rewrite some lines of the poem.   

Chapter 6: Expert detectives 

This story is about a boy called Nishad and his sister Maya who are curious about Mr. Nath. In the middle of the chapter, a set of exercises is given where students are asked to answer some textual questions. Similarly, at the end of this chapter, a set of questions are posted where students are asked to arrange information, match the same word with different meanings, fill in the blanks, match words with appropriate meanings, and some speaking and writing exercises. 

Chapter 7: The invention of vita work

It is an interesting story of Mr. Wonka who invented Wonka-Vite for making people young. At the end of the chapter, students are required to work with text where they have to answer textual questions, fill in the blanks, work with a family tree diagram, and end up with some speaking and writing exercises.

Next, the students are introduced to a poem called Dad And The Cat And The Tree that teaches us that overconfidence is a bad thing that will land us in trouble. At the end of the poem, some textual question is given which is expected to be answered by the solo effort of students. 

Chapter 8: Fire: Friend and Foe

The chapter draws our attention to the utility and dangers of fire. At the end of this chapter students are required to mark the correct answers of the questions and choose the correct order of the questions, They are required to answer textual questions, match the correct columns, fill in the blanks with the correct choice of words, and end with some speaking and writing exercises. 

Successively students are introduced to a poem called Meadow Surprises. At the end of this poem, students are asked to mark the lines from the poem that contain the given phrases and point out lines that reveal the stated meaning posed in the question.  

Chapter 9: A bicycle in Good repair

The chapter teaches us about the importance of keeping our values and things of daily utility in good working condition. The chapter contains different kind of exercises where students are required to find out the meaning of sentences or phrases, point out the nature of a remark, find sentences that convey a similar meaning. At the end of the chapter students are asked to answer some textual questions, fill in the blanks with appropriate words, and arrange words in the form of prefix, suffix or part of a word. 

Like previous chapters, this one too follows up with a poem called the Garden Snake where students are supposed to do simple exercises like picking the correct line that conveys the meaning stated in the question, finding appropriate words that denote analogous meaning and find out rhyming words. 

Chapter 10: The Story Of Cricket

This chapter throws light on the history of the cricket game how it was initially played and how it evolved and spread to be one of the most watched and followed sports on the planet.
